  • Story:
    • The story begins by explaining that the little boy has a heart full of tenderest worship for Our Lady, and he listened to the older children sing O Alma Redemptoris. One day an older boy tells him that the hymn was written to the blessed lady and they sing it for help and comfort when they die. Hugh wanted to learn it so every day the older boy taught it to him. Then Satan comes along asking the Jews why they were allowing high to scoff at them and their laws. From there the jews hired a murder who caught hugh and put him in a pit. His mom searched for him. Down in the pit, the little boy sung O Alma Redemptoris and Christian folk walking by heard him. He was then pulled out and the Jews who did it were killed. When asked why he kept singing down there he said that blessed mother gave him grain and when it was taken she will come to carry him away with her. They took the grain and he passed so they placed him in a temple of pure white marble.
